Zone 6 Alerts (June 21-June 23)

Alarm/Burglary - An alarm sounded on Barrington Manor Drive in the Barrington Manor subdivision (Johnson Road off N. Sharon Church Road). The resident stated that someone possibly entered through a window and tripped the alarm.

On nearby Lafayette Way, a subject alleged someone shined a green laser into the window. The Walton County Sheriff's Department listed it as a "prowler" on the Zone 6 alert email.

Several entering auto calls were reported by the WCSO. Remember to lock your car doors and your home/windows.

Monroe Man Faces Charges of Sexual Exploitation of Minors

Michael Brandon Clay, 25, of Monroe, turned himself in to the Walton County Sheriff's Office on June 13, 2013 on six counts of sexual exploitation of minors. He has since been released on bond.

Recent thefts in our area

A tan Chevy Blazer was stolen from a home on Centerhill Church Road.

A utility trailer full of tools was stolen from a home on Sandy Creek Road.

Lookout Issued for Man Who Allegedly Exposed Himself

Walton County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call from a resident on Thomas Drive in Loganville between 4:30 and 5 p.m. on June 5, 2013, regarding a man who was allegedly exposing himself. He was described as a white male with dark hair and was reported to be in an older model dark blue Ford Explorer.

Terry Alan Duyvejonck, 45, of 5180 Donald Drive, Loganville, was arrested on Thursday evening following an allegedly road rage incident that involved the brandishing of a weapon.

Loganville Town Green Pavilion

According to Mike Jones:
"On Thursday, 5/9/13 the City Council approved the contract for construction of our new pavilion downtown.  We have also decided to name it after former Mayor Ray Nunally. The package was ordered on Friday 5/10/10 and should be here in two or three weeks.   It will take about 3 weeks to construct. All the infrastructure has been completed, (utilities, sprinkler, cables, etc.). Once the building is finished, down goes the sod and we are ready. Completion date is no later than 6/28/13 with dedication on 7/4/13.    
We have some big plans for downtown, including movies, concerts, shops and restaurants. I can say that I am real proud of our Mayor and Council. We are working together and pulling in the same direction. It take this to get things done. Keep encouraging us and volunteer when you see a need."

Zone 6 Email Updates

A 2001 Chrysler minivan was observed in the Loganville area occupied by four males dressed in all black clothing. The males were looking into and under vehicles in the area of Tommy Lee Fuller Road and Claude Brewer Road.

A boat was stolen from a residence in Highway 20.

A motor for a Yamaha motorcycle was stolen from a home on Highway 20 and it was recovered from a residence on N. Sharon Church Road and returned to the owner.

The Walton County Sheriff's Department have been conducting several "safety checks" (roadblocks) in the area of Sharon Church Road, Centerhill Church Road and Miller Bottom Road. Be aware and expect to see more of these safety checks as the summer months progress.

Walton County deputies responded to a fire behind the Country Store (at the corner of GA 20 and McCullers Road).

Yorkshire Estates Subdivision

Residents in the Yorkshire Estates subdivision, located off N. Sharon Church Road, have been encountering car break-ins, thefts and vandalism in their neighborhood recently. According to recent Zone 6 e-mail alerts, several unsecured vehicles were broken into and electronic items were stolen.

Walton County Schools are now out for summer break, so please be aware of teenagers and/or other suspicious people in your neighborhood. Contact Captain Darren Vinson, or the Walton County Sheriff''s Department to report anything unusual in your neighborhood. Also, lock your vehicles and homes! Remove valuables, electronics and your garage door openers from your vehicles at night.

Recap of Recent Zone 6 Alerts

April 11
  • Suspicious Person – Suspicious subjects were going door to door claiming to be employees of ADT Alarm Systems. One of the subjects was arrested on outstanding warrants.
  • Assault – A subject claimed to have been assaulted on North Sharon Church Rd.
April 9 - 10
  • Armed Robbery – On April 9, 2013, between the hours of 10:00pm and 10:15pm, a white female and a white male robbed Mr. Jeff’ on Highway 81. The suspects left in a dark colored two-door Saturn. The subjects were later identified and had warrants out of Rockdale County for armed robbery as well. 
  • Chase – On April 10, 2013, a white female and white male led law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase into Dekalb County after shoplifting at Wal-Mart then drawing a firearm on employees. The female subject was arrested and transported to the Walton County Jail. The subjects are suspects in the armed robbery on April 9th at Mr. Jeff’s convenience store on Hwy 81.

Garret Alan Whitaker of 2120 Rock Court was arrested at 1:04 a.m. on April 5th and was held for another agency.

Larry Wayne Allison
Larry Wayne Allison of 3562 N. Sharon Church Road was arrested at 1:07 a.m. and charged with loitering and prowling. He was also charged with failure to appear. He is often seen walking along the roadway in the N. Sharon Church Road area.

WCSO High Speed Chase

Chase – While on Center Hill Church Rd. @ GA Hwy 20, Walton County deputies were involved in a vehicle chase with a motorcycle. The driver was later arrested and charged with Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Passing in a No Passing Zone and Reckless Driving.

Citing health issues, Loganville Mayor Ray Nunley will tender his resignation, according to city officials. A special called meeting will be held Wednesday to discuss how the city will proceed.

Zone 6 Alerts

March 19th:
Damage to Property - A phone box was tampered with at a residence on LaFayette Way. Three bushes were torn out of the ground. Suspect is possibly an older white male driving a two-toned Ford truck. Extra patrol requested.

March 14th:
Walton County Fire and Rescue responded to a grass fire at 1588 Holly Ridge Drive in the Cevera Lake subdivision. The homeowner was trying to burn off dormant sod and caused "extensive" damage to his neighbor's property. Click here for more information.

Paul Slater Pleads Not Guilty


 
Alcovy Circuit Court District Attorney Layla Zon said that Paul Ali Slater, who was shot by a Loganville mother on Jan. 4 when he broke into her home, entered a plea of not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday. Slater is facing charges of possession of tools for commission of a crime and burglary in first degree in connection with the incident.
